Watermelon Rhinds are a protest piece! I didnt have much of the spalted tamarind so I knew that I had to make each piece count. These remind me of the most beautiful Palestin!an woman and her beautiful dark hair and how good gold looked on her… I wanted these to feel like they are adorning your ear and your hair. It was clear there was a power in this combination of brushed gold “crowns” and the spalted tamarind I carved. Part of the profit of this pair will be donated to help Pal. people in need.
